Radio Frequency Radiation – How can you tell if it’s safe?
Well, you can perform a theoretical calculation based on distance from the antenna, which works fine if no-one has tweaked the output.
Or you can measure the strength of the signal at the point where you are working with a broad band meter and compare to the National Exposure Standard (ARPANSA RPS3).
In a complex environment with many antennas you may also want to know the output from a certain antenna (that is closest to the people). That can also be done and a real time % of exposure standard shown to anyone concerned.
